Vladimir Gofman - Head Coach and club owner
Vladimir has 40 years of fencing coaching experience. He's trained national champions in the Soviet Union, and worked in the Olympic Sports Reserve School of Belarus. His team winnings include First Place Epee team National Under 19 ('98), Third Place National Open ('98), Third Place National Under 19 ('99), Great Neck High School South First Place Nassau ('02). He has several winning students in the Long Island area and NYC, including Michael Elfassy - 1st National Junior Olympics Cadet '06, 3rd Place Junior Olympics Junior '06. Vladimir has many current and former Foil PSAL Tournament Champions from 1996-2008. Many of his Epee students are tournament Champions in Long Island High Schools including 2008 where his students took 1st for both boys and girls. Vladimr has a Masters Degree in Physical Education from the Gomel State University in Belarus.
Sergei Gubarev - Epee & Foil
Sergei - coach from Estonia with more than 30 years of experience. A repeating Champion of Estonia in both epee and foil, had received the highest coach's education in Physical training and sports in the Academy of St.-Petersburg (Russia). His students have won: 2nd place in the World championship among cadets (2004), 3rd place in the World championship among juniors (2005), 3rd place in the European championship among the juniors (2005), two 3rd places in the European championship among cadets in team (2008), 5th place in the World championship among juniors (2006), and 7th and 10th places in the World championship among cadets (2004, 2005). The Estonian teams under his coaching have won 4th (2007) and 6th (2005) places in the World championship among juniors as well as 4th place in the European championship among juniors (2005). Many times have they been winners, prize-winners and finalists in World Cups. Sergei has attained Master of Sports of the USSR in Fencing (Highest Classification in Sports in Russia). Yana Vorobyeva - foil coach Yana Vorobyeva is a professional fencer, who spent actively competing in regional and world cups, in individual and team formats, from 1985 to 1996. She was a member of the Soviet Union National Team and Kazakhstan National Team. She is a USSR Junior Champion and USSR Youth Games Champion, 5 times Kazakhstan National Champion. In addition, she participated in the World University Games (1991, 1993) and in Senior World Championships three times. Yana graduated from Kazakh Institute of Physical education and sport in 1991 and received her Bachelor Degree. Her primary occupations are physical education teacher and fencing coach. She started her coaching career as a fencing coach in Kazakhstan in 1999. Along with Yana’s successful competitive fencing carrier, she transitioned to coaching and growing next generation of kids and champion fencers. Yana has prepared many National Level Youth, Cadet and Junior fencers.
